BHOPAL: University Grants Commission issued a draft mandating an aspirant to possess Ph D degree instead of obtaining marks in National Eligibility Test for direct recruitment on posts of assistant professor from July 1, 2021. It has invited objections and suggestions from all stakeholders till February 28.
The UGC took the decision to reform the recruitment process in a bid to fill the long pending vacancies of faculty members in colleges and varsities across country, said MP Guest Faculty Sagar district convener Sandeep Sablok.
The compulsion to acquire a NET qualification certificate created unnecessary burden on the researchers. Also, many become ineligible because of this UGC clause. “The UGC proposal is a welcomed step. It should be implemented with immediate effect,” said guest faculty Dr D P Singh who is teaching for more than two decades.
