BHOPAL: Two more senior officials of the FCI (Food Corporation of India) were summoned by the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) officials on Monday in the bribery trap case that has revealed cash of over Rs 3 crore till date.
The senior officials include officers of General Manager and Deputy General Manager level. They were interrogated at the CBI office, said sources.
CBI had recovered over Rs 6 lakh cash besides Rs 3 crore and one kg of gold and silver jewelry from houses of clerks that were raided. The diary that was recovered had revealed several sensitive pieces of information indicating an established caucus of officials in the organization.
With this information CBI will also be probing the assets of the officials under scanner. If their assets are found to be more than their known income sources, another case could be registered against the employees and the officials of the FCI.
Raids by the CBI, Bhopal unit were conducted on clerk from FCI Sandeep Chowdhary and recovered Rs 5.96 lakh cash from his house. Earlier during a search at clerk Kishore Meena cash of about Rs 3 crore and a kg of gold and silver jewelry was recovered besides envelopes with names and accounts of people. The diary was also recovered from him which had detailed accounts of people they had transactions with.
The investigating agency had arrested four people including a divisional manager of FCI for allegedly demanding and accepting bribes from a Gurugram based security agency.
