BHOPAL: Miscreants targeted house of an engineer and a retired bank employee in Shahpura and Piplani and made away with cash, jewellery and other valuables on Monday.

According to Shahpura police, Sumit Kumar Dehariya (32) of Pallavi Nagar in Shahpura was an engineer with the railways. In his complaint, Sumit told the police that he lived here along with his younger sister. On March 10 he went for training to New Delhi and his sister was present at the house. A few days later she also went out of station on some personal work and gave the keys of the house to a friend and told him to look after their house.

On Friday when her friend visited their house, he found the locks broken after which he informed Sumit regarding the break-in. Sumit reached Bhopal from New Delhi on Monday and found LED TV, mobile, watch and gold and silver jewellery from almirah all to the tune of Rs 50,000 were missing.

In the other incident, cash, jewellery and other valuables were stolen from a house at Anand Nagar in Piplani area, the police said on Tuesday. According to Piplani police, complainant Sucheta, 22, daughter of Tarang Bose lives in a rented accommodation in Anand Nagar. She is pursuing BE from a private engineering college as well as preparing for competitive examinations. Her father is a retired bank officer.

On March 19, she along with family went to a relative’s house from where they returned on March 27 and came to know that their house was burgled and Rs 5,000 cash, digital camera and gold jewellery worth Rs 40,000 were stolen. The police registered cases under sections 457 and 380 of the IPC and started further probe in both incidents.
