BHOPAL: Nishatpura police nabbed two miscreants from Karond in connection with smuggling of illegal firearms and recovered six pistols, three magazines and six live cartridges from them on Tuesday. The mastermind of the gang is still absconding.
The nabbed accused were identified Laxman Singh Parmar (23), of Morena and Yogesh Sharma (18), of Bhind.DIG Raman Singh, while speaking with media persons on Wednesday, said, “Acting on a tip off, two miscreants trying to sell weapons were nabbed and when they were searched, pistols, magazines and cartridges were recovered.”
The accused have confessed to selling the pistols in the city for the first time. A single pistol costs Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. The pistols were of good quality due to which it was easier selling them off. Laxman is a contractual worker with Gwalior Municipal Corporation while Yogesh is a pursuing his bachelor’s degree from Gwalior.
During the investigation, the police found the main accused operated the racket of illegal arms dealing from Gwalior and would pay people for delivering weapons illegally. Both the accused were on their first trip to the city when they were nabbed.
