BHOPAL: Police arrested two more men accused of being involved in the shocking twin murder of a medical store owner and his assistant on Tuesday here. The two arrested are believed to be the two accomplices of the arrested main accused present during the incident, the police said.
On Sunday at about 9.30 pm, medical store owner, Rashid, 35 and his assistant Om Soni, 25, were allegedly shot dead at point blank range outside their shop by main accused Rehman in Talaiya locality. While Rehman was arrested a few hours after the incident, his accomplices Rizwan, 57, and Babar, 22, were absconding only to be arrested on Tuesday.
According to the police, Rizwan, who was the elder brother of Rehman was arrested from Sukhisewaniya while Babar, a nephew of Rehman, was arrested Kamla Park.
“Both the accused have no criminal records and they were not involved in shooting the two. They were arrested because they supported the main accused in committing the crime and were present during the incident. After being arrested the two were presented before the court from where they were sent to judicial custody,” said station house officer (SHO), Talaiyya, Manishraj Bhadauriya.
In another murder incident in Ashoka Garden, the police arrested the 34-year-old absconding accused, alleged of murdering a 25-year-old woman on Tuesday at Piplani. The accused was arrested from Indrapuri area in Piplani locality, the police said.
Sunita Thakur, dubbed as ‘Lady Don’ in Piplani, was allegedly stabbed to death by arrested accused Raja on March 7 in Ashoka Garden locality. Thakur used to run a paan shanty in Piplani and was heading home after closing the shop on her two-wheeler when at around 8.30 pm, she was allegedly stopped by Raja. Raja, who was known to her, slit her throat with a knife, killing her on the spot.
“From the start the police were suspecting the hand of a known person. Based on the evidences gathered, the police finally pin-pointed the accused who was absconding since the incident. During investigations, the police also found there was an altercation between Thakur and the accused on the sharing the profit earned by selling drugs at the former’s paan kiosk,” said SHO, Ashoka Garden, Virendra Chouhan adding the accused after being booked under suitable sections of IPC was presented before the court which later sent him to jail.
