HOSHANGABAD: Umakant Umrao, commissioner of Narmadapura division has appealed to the farmers of Harda, Betul and Hoshangabad districts not to burn the ‘Narvai’ (stubbles) after harvesting of crops in their fields but they should convert it into ‘Bhoosa’ (straw) to earn an additional income. He urged them to get themselves registered on a website for sale and purchase of ‘bhoosa’. He said that the traders dealing in straw should also get themselves registered on the portal. He said that the administration’s main objective is to ensure that the farmers do not burn the stubbles but instead convert it into straw and traders from any district can buy it. He said that the traders and farmers can register themselves on the site and sale and purchase straw with ease. He said that more than 2,000 farmers and 75 traders have registered themselves on the site. He said that the objective of the administration is to ensure that the income of the farmers doubles over the next five years.
