BHOPAL: The park in Vidhya Nagar phase-1 is full of stumps of trees. And it is just because of the neglect of the local residents. Colony residents are supposed to be vigilant. If the miscreants are able to fell trees in the park and get away with it, it is really shameful for the residents.
The colony is inhabited by the rich, who live in their own ivory towers in duplexes and villas and are hardly bothered about their neighbourhood. The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration should also take care of the park as far as maintenance and sanitation are concerned.
Mukesh Gupta said, “It is a very serious matter that trees which were planted on the periphery of the park have been felled. Who did it, no one knows. It is highly disgusting that unidentified persons chopped down the trees and no one has objected.”
Rajesh Sharma said, “Local residents are supposed to monitor the goings-on in the colony. Trees have been cut down but not one of them is showing any concern about it. No one looks interested. All of them live in duplexes or villas so the residents hardly bother about their neighbourhood. So we should not expect them to be vigilant.”
Sanjiv Sharma said, “The Park was more or less well maintained. But suddenly we saw that trees have been felled. Proper maintenance of the park requires regular monitoring. Otherwise, it will be problematic.”
ON Jha said, “It is a reasonably good park. But it should be properly maintained and should be neat and clean so that children can play there. People visit the park to do yoga and exercise.”
