Bhopal: Condition of dust-bins installed on road side bear testimony to the fact that Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration has turned a blind eye towards sanitation within 10 days after Swachh Survekshan 2019 was held in state capital. Bhopal got the second spot in the last Swachh Survekshan. It ended on January 31.
Dust –bins for wet and dry garbage have been installed but due to apathy of civic body, they are not in good shape at places like Link Road no-1, Link Road no2, Shymla Hills. Commuters are forced to dump garbage outside the bins. On January 4, 2019, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) had launched the Swachh Survekshan 2019- the fourth edition of the annual nationwide cleanliness survey of urban India.
It was launched as a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Swachh Survekshan 2019 aimed to evaluate the achievements in the cleanliness level in urban areas of the country. Deputy Commissioner BMC Harish Gupta claimed, “We will look into matter as it is our consistent effort to streamline the system.” He claimed, “We will activate out monitoring team” and shifted blame on the people adding, “People should also cooperate the civic bodies to keep the city neat and clean.” He also claimed that damaged dust-bins will be replaced.
