BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh minister for sports and youth welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia unveiled the trailer of biopic ‘Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi’ centered on her mother on Wednesday at Courtyard by Marriott.

Penned by governor of Goa Mridula Sinha, the movie is based on the book, ‘Rajpath Se Lok Path Par,’ an autobiography of erstwhile Maharani of Gwalior Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia, who also served as a Member of Parliament multiple times. Directed by Gul Bahar Singh, the movie features Hema in the role of Vijaya Raje Scindia alongside Vinod Khanna and it will release on April 21 in theatres across the country.

Talking to media persons, minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia said, “I never ever thought that a movie, centered on my mother will ever be made. It could only be possible due to the sincere efforts of Sushma Swaraj and Mridula Sinha ji. Gul Bahar Singh directed it very well and Hema Ji acted beautifully.”

The trailer of movie has already been launched in Mumbai by Amitabh Bachchan. On the occasion, the minister seemed very emotional, especially when she was asked about which scene touched her a lot. She said, “The death of my father and after that how amma managed herself and family and the scene in which she goes to jail. I myself witnessed how much pain my amma had to bear but never gave up and managed her family as well as political life successfully. She did a lot for women, especially for the uplift of girls. The pain of separation of a mother from her son also touched me a lot.”

“The movie portrays the journey of Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scandia. We had to do a lot of research work and it took seven years to complete. After six months research, we selected Hema ji for the role. We used full liberty for making the movie but didn’t tamper with facts,” said Gul Bahar Singh. Minister Maya Singh and Archna Chitnis and former education minister of Rajasthan Kiran Maheshwari were also present on the occasion and shared their experiences with Rajmata.
