Youths in the city are not sure whether the Congress party will create 22 lakh government jobs, which it promised in its election manifesto. But they are happy that party has spoken about unemployment.  Free Press brings you reactions of local youths on Congress party promising 22 lakh jobs. Excerpts:

Umang Shridhar, 26,  founder, Khadiji

Government job is a big cap for youths to don. And to provide 22 lakh jobs is not a very big thing. It is possible but government will have to make efforts for this. I am working with Khadi and Village Industries Commission where there has been no recruitment since 1989. New blood needs to work with government to bring is new ideas and energy. At the same time, entrepreneurship should be promoted.

Mohsin Khan, 25,  social activist

It is good to hear that government is promising jobs in election but how much it will be implemented, one can’t say. Political parties make manifesto in every five years during election. But if we talk about last few elections, whatever was said in Congress or BJP manifesto was not implemented. India is the second largest country in population. So, it is not possible to create government jobs. I think the country needs entrepreneurship. For this, there is need to create opportunities.

Abhishek Dubey,25,  founder, Muskan Dreams
I don’t think it is possible because there is no visionary leader in the Congress who can take country to path of development. I have little hope from Modi government who can do something for youth. But yes, start-ups helped. But everyone can’t go for it. We should teach how to generate jobs from school and college level.

Asma Khan,21, student
If party is promising 22 lakh jobs in their manifesto, it can’t be baseless. They must have done planning. Also, to provide 22lakh job is not a very big issue if they make it their priority. I think, good education, health and employment should be issues in election instead of Ram temple, air strikes, casteism and reservation. I am glad to hear that Congress party has at least spoken about unemployment in its manifesto.

Rahul Sen, 23, student
Employment is a big issue. In 2014 Lok Sabha election, the BJP government had promised to create two crore jobs but what happened? In fact, they reduced the education budget last year. The condition of education system is pathetic now. I think we should first focus on good education as it will give job, automatically.
