Bhopal: Medical fraternity has raised eyebrows over the hurried appointments of deans and assistant professors in medical colleges. Just ahead of the change of guard in the state, the divisional commissioner appointed Dr Aruna Kumar as dean Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal, while Dr TN Dubey was sent as dean to Government Medical College, Vidisha.
On the day when the deans were shifted, interview for assistant professors in autonomous medical colleges were also conducted. In the same sequence, the administration called for interviews for medical superintendent post, thus posing questions over the transparency in the entire process. Earlier, the appointments in medical colleges were made through Public Service Commission, but after it gained autonomous status, divisional commissioner has been taking all the responsibilities.
Expressing resentment, Indian Medical Professionals Association registered its protest with divisional commissioner seeking the reasons for making appointments in such hurried manner at the time when the new government formation was to take place. Association vice president, Dr Ashwani Syal, said the issue crops up when divisional commissioner calls.
