BHOPAL: The fourth convocation ceremony of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University was organised here on Friday. Governor OP Kohli presided over the programme. As many as 238 students were conferred degrees including Ph.D. degree to 44 students.
Governor and chancellor, OP Kohli in his address said convocation ceremony is being held since times immemorial. There was ‘Samavartan Sanskar’ when graduates used to come back from Ashram to home after completing their education. They were taught to consider their parents, teachers and guests as their gods and respect them.
Kohli emphasised on abolishing the system of appointing adhoc and guest teachers and making only permanent appointment of teachers. He said there is need to regulate private educational institutions.
He said it is important to develop professional competence as well as emotional maturity in students.
Special guest in the programme, minister of state, Deepak Joshi stressed on utility of regional languages in education and announced that all examinations of technical subjects will be conducted in Hindi in the year 2017.
NCERT, former director, JS Rajput said the University is providing opportunities of higher education to rural, tribal and backward class children through advanced technology and latest means of communication. The government is developing policies to ensure good quality higher education and developing of credit of its educational institutions at international level.
