The state capital experienced the hottest day of the current season on Friday as the temperature breached the 40 degree Celsius. The temperature in many cities in the state hovered around either 40 degree Celsius. The rise in the day’s temperature was in the range of 2-4 degree Celsius.
Weather man attributed the reason to hot wind sweeping most the parts of the state. Bhopal residents experienced intense heat, especially those who stepped out on the streets. With dry northwesterly winds blowing over the region, a dry and bright sunny day is being forecast for Madhya Pradesh.
Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1 degree Celsius which was 4.3 degree Celsius above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 19.8 degree Celsius. Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 40.3 degree Celsius which was 2.1 degree Celsius while it recorded a minimum temperature of 19.5 degree Celsius which was 1 degree Celsius above normal.
Shajapur and Dhar recorded 42 degree Celsius, Ujjain, Damoh and Hoshangabad recorded 41 degree Celsius. Guna, Gwalior, Rajgarh, Sagar and Nowgaon recorded 40 degree Celsius. Meteorological department officer GD Mishra said, “It was hottest day of current season. But 40.9 degree Celsius recorded ten years ago on March 31 is the highest temperature ever recorded for the state capital.”
