BHOPAL: Sand mafia attacked Piparia tehsildar and her team when they tried to intercept sand-laden tractor-trolleys at Mohari villager under Piparia police station in Hoshangabad district on Thursday. Three persons, including the driver of the tehsildar, were injured in the attack. They were admitted to the hospital. The attackers managed to flee with the sand-laden tractor trolleys.
As per the police, acting on a tip off, tehsildar Vinki Singhmare drove to check the illegal mining at Mohari when the mafia attacked her team with axes. Driver Jabbar Khan, Kotar Khuman and home guard Malkhan sustained injuries.
SHO KS Chandel said, “The sand mafia attacked tehsildar Singhmare and her team when she had gone to check illegal mining and seize the sand-laden tractor-trolleys. Three including tehsildar’s driver Jabbar Khan were injured in the attack.”
Vinki Singhmare, while talking to Free Press, said, “We had a solid information about illegal mining at Mohari. So we went to take action. But they diverted their tractor-trolleys towards the village and attacked our team before fleeing with the sand. Our driver Jabbar Khan, Kotwar Khuman and home guard Malkhan were injured in the attack.”
