BHOPAL: Finance minister Arun Jaitley presented Union budget and brought smiles on faces of tax payers. Most of the tax payers are happy with the new tax slab, exemptions and reduction in the tax rate. Homemakers, however, did not seem to be very happy as there is not much in the budget for the household but middle class tax payers feel that the budget will prove fruitful to their pockets and will induce more savings of the service class.

Pratibha Singh, Housewife

“Every housewife would have thought of reduction in prices of commodities but there was nothing for the household. Though indirect benefits have been given to middle class, so obviously, there is nothing much to grin about. My husband will save more now, I suppose, which will help us spend more on household.”

Shishir Das, 31, Assistant Manager at BPO

“The tax exemption was the highlight for me. In fact it would have been the news of the day for most of the tax payers. The budget will definitely invite more savings by people, I feel. Also, start-ups will be benefited with the exemption as there are many start-ups who are striving hard in city. “

Anshuman Singh, 38, Marketing Professional

“Everyone falling in the tax slab will be happy because tax was one of the responsibilities which worried those, who were regularly paying their taxes. Middle class should be happy with the budget because till now all the decisions taken by the government has been taken supporting the middle class. Even if we talk about demonetisation, middle class was the least affected, due to the optimum level of income and expenditure.”

Gaurav Jeet Virk, Businessman

“Whoever pays tax regularly will be definitely happy. For corrupts there is always something troubling. I also read that the cash payments have been limited to Rs three lakh, which is a great move to keep check on the flow of money. A good budget I would say.”

Kalpana Dwiwedi, 30, Bank Employee

“It is definitely good news for me as a tax payer and an employee. Though women already get a lot of exemptions in tax but added benefits and exemptions are always welcoming. Being a homemaker, I don’t see any change for the household but overall the budget is good economically for service class. Though I haven’t yet been able to go through it completely but highlight I think was the tax exemptions.”
