Gwalior: The musical extravaganza that unfolded at the eighth concert of Tansen Samaroh near Lord Shiva’s temple on the banks of Jhilmil river at Behat mesmerised the audience. The vocal and instrumental performances kept the music lovers spellbound.
Javed Usmani from Bhopal, a disciple of Ustad Nazir Khan of Kirana Gharana and Ustad Nasir Ahmad Khan of Delhi Gharana, presented a song titled ‘Chor Ke Na Ja Rey Saiyan More’ in Pahari Tumari, which drew warm applause. The ‘Jugalbandi’ by artistes namely Vinayak Shukla and Vijay Gupta Seth on Tabla was a treat to hear. Union minister for panchayati raj Narendra Singh Tomar was also present. Kevalya Kumar Gaurav from Dharwad and Sunanda Sharma from New Delhi performed at the seventh concert. Tomar felicitated Gaurav and Sunanda by presenting shawls and mementos to them. The union minister visited the art exhibition organised at the venue.
Tomar said Tansen Samaroh is the most prestigious musical event across the country. It has helped in bringing Gwalior on the international map. Tomar assured of government’s help for Tansen Samaroh. Collector Rahul Jain, municipal commissioner Vinod Sharma and music lovers were present in large numbers.
