Bhopal: Swine flu checkup hits hurdle in govt hospitals

Bhopal: Patients are having a tough time getting a swine flu check-up done in the state-run hospitals of the city. Reportedly the hospitals have started refusing the samples of B category patients owing to a large number of samples being received on a daily basis.

As per the guidelines of Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, the samples of only C category patients were to be accepted in the hospitals.

However, when the condition of a few patients under B category started deteriorating, department’s principal secretary Gauri Singh issued instructions for accepting the samples of serious patients under the B category as well.

However, sources said the state-run hospitals had stopped accepting the samples unless the patient was admitted in the hospital. When contacted, Dr IK Chugh, superintendent of JP Hospital said, “We have not come across any such case and if a patient approaches us we will ensure all sort of help.”
