Bhopal: Suggestions and complaints pour in as CM chats with SHG members

Bhopal: Assuring all possible help to the self-help group entrepreneurs, the chief minister said that the government will look into all issues pertaining to banking, production and sale. Addressing the state level SHG, training and orientation programme at CM house here on Monday, Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked them speak about their problems and also told them to come up with suggestions to enable government to design a robust policy for them.

The SHG entrepreneurs from around 30 districts of the state had come to participate in the programme. The entrepreneurs took the opportunity and informed the government about the problems plaguing the SHGs. One of participants Roshni Tiwari from Tikamgarh said “We are merely numbers in Gram Sabha where we have no voice and are never herd. Just our sign and thump impression were taken there. We have been giving the proposals, but they are never executed. We want that someone should be appointed to help us in villages”.

One Siyaram said that SHG people should be given one or two shops in shopping malls to sell their products. While, Kunti Jasiwal informed that they were not being able to withdraw their amounts from the bank; Uma, an entrepreneurs from Sahdol demanded a separate table in the banks to perform their banking work.

However, the unanimously demand of the delegates included sale of their products, store house, separate building in village to conduct their meeting. Besides, they also lamented on their products not getting desired amount in open market and also complained about the higher rate interest being charged by micro finance companies who were funding them.

The chief minister welcomed the suggestions and complaints made by them and assured them that the government will come up with a policy shortly to uplift the SHGs. Meantime the government will hold meetings with the bankers and other marketing agencies to launch a campaign for their products.

He added that a roadmap will be formed and a meeting will be held in every district. In the state 21.65 lakh women are the members of various SHGs and around 1.69 lakh SHGs are working in the state. In the programme rural development minister Gopal Bhargava, ACS RS Julania and CEO of NRLM, LM Belwal was also present.
