Bhopal: More than 22 candidates, who were expelled from the private medical colleges after they were admitted, have field cases in the Indore bench of the High Court demanding that their admissions be restored. The private colleges had given admission to 37 students in excess of their seats.
Vyapam whistle-blower Paras Sakhlecha informed Free Press that due to the carelessness of the Directorate of Medical Education, these 37 students had been left in the lurch.
On October 7, the DME conducted offline admissions and this led to the problem. The private medical colleges conducted the admissions according to their will. They blatantly ignored the NEET merit list as also the Supreme Court directives on admissions.
The SC had instructed to provide admissions according to the NEET merit list and had said that state domiciles should be given preference.
For example, in RD Gardi medical college, a student with 405 marks was not given admission but in other colleges, students who had scored less than 250 marks were admitted.
Huge irregularities were committed in offline admissions. The students who were not having NRI certificates were given admissions against NRI quota. Not only that, non-domicile candidates were also given admissions, violating the SC instructions.
He added that he has also filed a case in the Supreme Court demanding the re-preparation of merit list according to NEET result. The hearing is scheduled for October 25.
