Bhopal: The students MP School of Drama (MPSD) called off their ten-day-long protest and returned to their classroom on Saturday. They ended the protest following an assurance from the minister for cultural affair Vijay Lakshmi Sadho that their demands would soon be fulfilled.
“After getting assurance Sadho ma’am, we attended all classes from 10.30 to 5pm. She said our all problems will be resolved.,” said one of the students. The students further said, “Our protest was against the prevailing mismanagement in the institution not against director or any persons. And we just want to put our problems which we were facing before officials. That’s all.”
“In fact, some of our problems like drinking water have been solved. The budget detail and schedule of faculty were shown to us,” the student said. The students are boycotting their classes since Thursday, February 7. Their protest is against the inconveniences they are facing because of shortage of funds.
They had marched to the chief minister’s residence on Friday and had handed over a memorandum to an official of the CMO. In the memorandum, they mentioned about inconveniences which the students are facing in the institution are lack of drinking water facility, don’t cut the facilities of students due to lack of Budget, didn’t get permission to take part in Asia’s big drama festival ‘Bharat Rang Mahotsava 2019,’ Props and costumes for play are not available,’ ‘To get the hostel vacated on night without any information and visiting faculty of the school leave for the class for not getting basic facilities.
Some of the former students of the School from Mumbai, MP, Bihar visited Bhopal to support the students on February 14. They also met directors of the school, Alok Chatterji. Besides, a three-member committee were set up. The members will inquire into the expanses made by school management earlier.
