Bhopal: The farm loan waiver will be the biggest challenge for the state government when the poll code is lifted. Finance department is facing difficulty in arranging Rs 30,000 crore needed for the implementation of the scheme.
A plan has been prepared by the government to collect additional revenue for loan waiver. Chief Secretary SR Mohanty has prepared a plan for recovery of additional revenue of Rs 18,000 crore through seven departments.
This plan intends to arrange money for farm loan waiver and also save government from financial crunch. Preparations have been made to increase revenue through excise, mining, urban administration, water resources, transport, registration and revenue departments.
New measures will be explored to ensure increase in revenue through these departments. In a meeting held recently with these departments, preparations to make new provisions have been made. These new provisions would be implemented after putting up proposals during cabinet meeting. Efforts would also be made to make sure that process of revenue collection would be swift and less time taking.
The government had met its target of revenue collection in March but it requires a huge sum of money for the loan waiver in the coming time. Besides the farm loan waiver, the government has also initiated new works which need a whooping sum of amount to be invested.
