Bhopal: The state government has withdrawn the special leave petition from the Supreme Court challenging the MP High Court’s ruling mandating same age criteria for the applicants from the state and outside for assistant professor exam. The state government had filed a SLP in the Supreme Court against the MP High Court order on March 7.
While hearing a petition against different age limits as fixed by the MPPSC in recruitment of assistant professor on March 7, the MP High Court ordered the different age criteria for the applicants of state and outside the state is discriminatory and in violation of fundamental rights.
The High Court also cited the Supreme Court order of 1984 in Dr Pradeep Jain and others Vs Union of India and said there can’t be any different age limits only on the basis of place of birth or place of residence. Vichar Madhya Pradesh Coordinator Vinayak Parihar said, the ruling of the MP high Court would impact the future of the people of the state.
The state government instead of protecting the rights and fighting for the people of the state withdrew the application which is very unfortunate, added Parihar. However, there is a rule made by the state government in 2004 which mandated five years of age relaxation to the applicants of the state against the applicants outside the state. Such rule should be saved from being scrapped for the sake of the people of the state, demanded Parihar.
