Bhopal: State government to pay fee for admission in DU under ‘Medhavi Vidhyarthi Yojana’

Bhopal: The state government in a Cabinet meeting on Monday made new provisions to extend help and benefits to cover more students under ‘Mukhyamantri Medhavi Vidhyarthi Yojana’ (MMVY). The students securing 70% in class XII examinations from MP Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) will now get the benefits of MMVY. This provision will be effective from 2018-19 session.

The students taking admission after class XII in Delhi University, Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) and taking admissions in Law Universities clearing their examinations will also get benefits of the MMVY. The students securing 1.5 lakh common rank in JEE mains are also covered under the scheme. Earlier, the students securing 50000 rank were covered.

The cabinet also gave its approval to extend the benefits of the scheme to the students pursuing graduation programmes running in all universities and institutes of the Government of India, integrated post-graduation programme and dual degree courses, the courses run by government aided and recognised private colleges and universities of the state government.

Also, the cabinet decided to give 3 per cent additional interest grant on bank loan up to Rs 3 lakh women self-help groups. It decided to hike the amount of aid given to women self-help groups for expanding business from Rs 25 lakh to 50 lakh. The government of India grants 5 per cent interest on bank loan of Rs 3 lakh to 5 lakh to self-help groups.

The interest grant of the state government would be additional to it and it would put a financial loan of Rs 48 crore on the government. The Cabinet decided to waive off the provision of interview for the recruitment of assistant professors in BR Ambedkar Social Sciences University, Mhow, as one-time measure.

The Cabinet, in connection with industrial policy and investment promotion, sanctioned Rs 530.59 crore for 14 earmarked industrial infrastructure development work project across the state. In the meeting, it was also decided to reserve 72.77 hectare land from 469.97 hectare land of Smart Industrial Park, Peethampur for the investors from Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, etc. and also allot the remaining 397.20 hectare industrial land to the investors across the state and the country for as unreserved multi- product industrial sector.

Ministers given responsibilities of various campaigns

The ministers were assigned responsibilities of various campaigns. Minister for woman and child development Archana Chitnis has been assigned responsibility to launch awareness campaign in women over central government’s ordinance on death penalty to people committing rape with girls below 12 years of age.

Minister for urban development Maya Singh has been given responsibility of regularisation of irregular colonies. Finance minister Jayant Mallaiya has been assigned responsibility to see employees’ demands, revenue minister Umashankar Gupta has been given responsibility of Patta distribution, cooperatives minister Vishwas Sarang has been given responsibility of cooperatives convention while public relations minister Narottam Mishra was given the responsibility of Vikas Yatras taken out by the MLAs.
