No-frill airline SpiceJet undertook trial on Bhopal–Pune route from Raja Bhoj Airport on Monday. The trial run will continue for five days. The main object behind the trial is to access the feasibility and viability of the flight on this route in summer.
The company has plan for operation of flight on Bhopal-Udaipur and Udaipur-Bhopal routes covering Mumbai, Surat and Udaipur. As per the summer scheduled, SJ-6623/6624 will take off from Pune at 6.55 in morning and it will land Bhopal at 9:00 am. It will take off from Bhopal at 9:30am and it will land at Pune 12.00 noon.
Besides, Low-cost carrier SpiceJet already has announced it will start 10 new flights under regional connectivity scheme UDAN between March 31 and April 15. While, eight of these will connect Gwalior to different cities across the country, two will fly on the Bhopal-Udaipur route. The airline would start a new flight on Bhopal-Chennai route from March 31.
The Bhopal-Chennai-Bhopal route does not come under the UDAN scheme of the Central government. The regional connectivity scheme UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) seeks to connect unserved and under-served airports as well as make flying affordable.
