Bhopal: All superintendents of police shall form team to control crime against women and it will be given responsibility to investigate cases of missing girls and women, said Director General of Police Rishi Shukla, here on Tuesday.
The DGP was addressing crime assessment meeting of SPs from Jabalpur, Chhindwara, Rajgarh, Mandsaur and railway zone Jabalpur. He also asked them to set up a separate desk in the police station for receiving women complainants.
He said that crime against women, specially cases coming under PSOCO Act shall be given priority. He also stressed on conducting the medical examinations of the rape victim as early as possible. DGP asked the officers to identify the areas where crime against women was frequently reported and to check on the community involve in the crime.
He said that newly trained police personnel who are joining the force would be trained and a campaign would be launched in this connection. The women police personnel who are not trained in driving two-wheelers, shall be given training in police training school and their licence shall be prepared, he said.
ADG crime against women Anvesh Manglam informed that the women wing should be given required resources, staff and they should work as a specialised unit. In the meeting many issues related to crime against women were discussed. Deliberating upon the reason, the officers said that working couple (labours) leaving their girls alone at home, local rituals, media, internet and others were responsible for increasing crime against women.
SP Rajgarh Shimala Prasad informed that to check crime against women, police have sensitised Nirbhya patrolling, Abhaya group, Shakti Mobile, besides self-defence training is also being imparted to girls in school and colleges, Mahila Sukrachha Kalyani Kendra. To check illicit liquor sale, Blue Gang and many others units have been set up in the district. Jabalpur SP informed that the police have launched Code Red programme to make eve-teasing-free Jabalpur.
