Bhopal: The state cabinet expansion may take place after the Mandla visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Prior to the expansion, some ministers may be shown the door. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is getting a survey of the working of his ministers and MLAs in their respective constituencies. The ministers, whose winniability prospects in polls are not very encouraging, may be shown the door.
The survey report also indicates that some MLAs, who are struggling, may win if they rise in their political stature. Chouhan, sensing the urgency of the situation, may remove some ministers and appoint new ministers for six months. Amongst ministers, Kusum Mehadale, Gaurishankar Bisen, Rustam Singh, Harsh Singh, Sharad Jain and Suryaprakash Meena are said to be having negative report in their respective constituencies. Some of them may be asked to step down from the cabinet.
New ministers could be made from Malwa and Bundelkhand region to balance political equations. Considering a situation of tense relations between ‘Sawarnas’ and SCs and STs across the country, SC MLA Pradeep Laria from Nariyavala constituency in Sagar, Ramesh Mendola to appease Brahmins, Ranjana Baghel to pacify tribals and Kailash Chawla to control the situation in Malwa may be appointed ministers. Chouhan has discussed about Cabinet expansion with BJP national organization general secretary Ramlal. Chouhan has been given free-hand in cabinet expansion from the central leadership.
