BHOPAL: The Union textile minister’s visit to Bandhavgarh National Park has once again created an issue against the use of beacon on VIP vehicles, on Sunday. An RTI activist has raised the issue of death of a tigress and the working of the forest department.

RTI and wildlife activist Ajay Dubey alleged Union textile minister Smriti Irani visited Bandhavgarh National Park on Sunday with her vehicle flashing yellow beacon in forest area, which was against the wildlife security norms. He also alleged PM Modi had left the use of red beacon and was suggesting others to come out from the beacon mania, but a member of the PM’s ministry was not taking any lesson from it. He demanded inquiry into the matter and against park director Mardul Pathak. He also alleged the tigress was killed by poachers on January 19 in the park, and the park officials did not send the Standard Operating Procedure report to National Tiger Conservation Authority till date.

He added the SOP including forensic report, histopathology report, ground report, site map and colour photographs were sent to NTCA, but the director had not sent the report. Not only this but also three cubs died in April and the director claimed they had imported medicines for the cubs.  He demanded the director should publish the papers regarding the deaths of the tigress and the cubs.
