BHOPAL: Heavy rush in market with gross violation of Covid protocol has left administration high and dry. It seems there is little impact of slapping penalty and fine for violation of Covid protocol on the public. For the administration, now it is not enough warning the people against a possible third wave of corona.

People frequently found tossing off Covid protocol in market places. They look least bothered about Covid protocol like maintaining social distancing and wearing masks. It is wedding season and festival time. So traders have demanded to extend business hours but administration has not permitted. Eid ul-Adha which is known as Bakra Eid or Bakrid is around the corner. Similarly, the wedding season has started and there is heavy rush in markets.

As per traders, they always tried to ensure implementation of Covid protocol as well as proper vaccination. They also made arrangements for vaccination at New Market for the people. During the day time, rush is normal but the scene changes by evening. Traders claimed that they have taken adequate measurers in this regard. The administration says since the lanes and roads in old city are narrow and congested, even small assembly of people looks huge rush.

SDM (TT Nagar) Sanjay Shrivastava said, "We impose fine and penalty for violation of Covid protocol. People should also cooperate with maintaining social distancing and putting masks on face. But it is festive time and wedding season, so there is rush in market. Even traders have also demanded extending the business time up to 11 pm. But we have not permitted so far as it is difficult for administration to maintain it."
