BHOPAL: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Sunday, gave a presentation on the blueprint for doubling of farmers’ income in five years at the meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Ayog at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by PM Narendra Modi and was attended by the chief ministers of almost all the states.
The agenda of the meeting was to prepare a ‘Vision Document of India-2022’. Chouhan gave detailed information on the strategy of doubling the income of farmers in five years. Chouhan said there was a need for reducing the input cost of agriculture and increasing productivity and production, diversification of crops and ensuring higher sale price for agri-produce. He said a better way of dealing with natural disasters and vagaries of weather affecting crops and farmers should be to provide timely relief and compensation in case of loss of crop etc. Chief ministers of other states had a discussion on the presentation.
