SEHORE: Sehore figures in the list of the 100 cleanest cities in the country, released by the union government recently on the basis of the Swachhta Sarvekshan 2017. The Sehore municipal committee has emerged at the 55th place in the country in this nation-wide survey. The municipality chairperson Amita Arora and CMO Amarsatya Gupta, while congratulating the residents of the city, have given the credit for the achievement to the co-operation of the people and the sincere and hard working employees of the municipality.
Since taking over as the chairperson, Amita Arora has been taking urgent steps and active interest in improving sanitation in the town. The sanitary workers were provided the necessary equipment and the refuse collection vehicles started making rounds of all localities twice a day – both in the mornings and the evenings.
In the Swachhta Sarvekshan last year, Sehore had ended up at the 423nd place. Within a year, it has jumped to 55th place nationally. Arora and Gutpa said that the municipal committee would try to make Sehore the cleanest and the most beautiful town in the state. They said that once sewage line is in place in the town, the sanitation would improve even further. But, they said, the municipality cannot do anything alone. It needs the active corporation of all the residents.
