Bhopal: Members of saffron outfit along with the villagers living near the site of proposed slaughter house in Adampur town near Bhopal, staged a protest against setting up new slaughter house by visiting the residences of about 29 state ministers on Tuesday in Bhopal. After staging the protest, demonstrators also submitted a memorandum to the ministers and demanded to scrap the plan. The new mechanised slaughter house proposed at Adampur town on the outskirts of Bhopal has been planned as an alternative to the slaughter house being run in Bhopal.

Villagers, members of saffron outfits and associations of traders are protesting the move under the banner of ‘Gramin Sangharsh Morcha’. The protestors raised slogans like ‘Gai nahi katne denge, desh nahi batne denge’ and ‘desh dharm ka nata hai, gai humari mata hai’ during their visit to ministers’ residences. “The protestors were divided in 29 groups to visit the residences of 29 ministers simultaneously on Monday at 10 am. However, each team comprised of different number of members like 100, 50 and 20,” said district convener of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Rajesh Sahu while speaking to Free Press.

He further informed that the demonstrators met 29 ministers and discussed the issue with each of them before submitting the memorandum demanding roll back of the proposal to set up new slaughter house at Adampur. “The ministers whom we met included panchayat and rural development minister Gopal Bhargava, public relations minister Narottam Mishra, public health and jail minister Kusum Mehdele, school education minister Vijay Shah, higher education and public service management minister Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya and others. We also told them the proposed site in Adampur is close to an ancient Maa Kankali temple. Besides, the location is near the origin of Aznal river which is near to another ancient and sacred temple of lord Shiva,” said Sahu. All the ministers have assured them of their support for the demand and promised to discuss the issue during cabinet meeting with chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he added. Sahu further added that if their demand is not met they would soon hold a huge demonstration. “We would decide our future course of actions in a meeting after which we would hold a big demonstration which would eventually turn into a big movement in the capital,” said Sahu.
