BHOPAL: The leaders of the RSS and the BJP have been opposing promotion of Chinese products and companies for long but a Chinese delegation visiting the state is being assured all help by the government.
A Chinese delegation, on Tuesday, met chief secretary Basant Pratap Singh. The delegation included representatives of Power China, China Railway and BRICKS International group.
Singh assured the delegation of support in projects relating to Smart City, urban development, irrigation and highways and bridge construction across the state. It was also stressed in the meeting that Chinese companies need to invest in construction of roads, solar energy, water supply and industrial parks.
BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and several leaders have been quite articulate in opposing made in China products. In the recent past, RSS, BJP and other social organisations had launched a campaign for boycotting of Chinese goods, when India’s relations with China turned bitter.
The industrialists in the state are also not in favour of Chinese companies investing in the state. Association of Industries, Madhya Pradesh chairman, OP Dhoot maintains that the industrial sector is undergoing tough times post-demonetisation. In this scenario, government should promote indigenous industrialists and industries rather than Chinese investors.
Dhoot said the works related to Smart City should be assigned to contractors, who are present in our own country and they are doing well. Dhoot added that if Chinese industries are promoted then it would ruin our medium scale industries. A senior BJP leader too, on the condition of anonymity, said the government needs to give priority to native industries and then only Chinese investment should be considered.
