Congress, which has adopted a defensive stand over Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has entered into another trouble, courtesy its MLA Sunderlal Tiwari. Tiwari has said that RSS is a terrorist organisation. He alleged RSS got Mahatma Gandhi murdered and the RSS symbolises terrorism. Earlier, Congress’ Vachan Patra (manifesto) had triggered controversy over its clause that stated that it would ban government officers and employees visiting RSS Shakhas.
Tiwari said Indian flag was never unfurled during any programme of RSS which makes it clear that their activities were suspicious. He alleged that the RSS is a political organisation and it was spreading social hatred and jealousy in the name of religion. He blamed RSS of creating anarchy in the country. Tiwari said that he supported the clause in the Vachan Patra on putting ban on government employees to go to RSS shakhas and conduct shakhas in government campuses.
Meanwhile, Congress has distanced itself from the statement of Tiwari. Congress state president Kamal Nath said he does not second Tiwari’s views. He said had RSS been such an organisation, we would have asked for putting a ban on it. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said shakhas of RSS would be conducted on government campuses and RSS was a patriotic organisation. Tiwari had landed Congress in soup by his controversial statements on previous occasions also. In the recent past, he had used the word prostitute for Chouhan, which had resulted in the BJP leading a scathing attack on Tiwari. On that instance too, Congress had not come in support of Tiwari.
