BHOPAL: Due to the ruckus created by the Congress in the Zero Hour in Vidhan Sabha on Wednesday, the Third Supplementary Budget for Rs 7,000 crore and the demands for grants of eight departments were guillotined by the Speaker. When leader of opposition Ajay Singh raised the issue of a geography textbook for PG students describing Gond tribals as cow beef eaters, the minister for parliamentary affairs Narottam Mishra rose to reply on behalf of the government.
He said the government was ready for a discussion on the issue. The opposition could raise the issue during the discussion on the demands for grants of higher education department, which would be replied to by the minister. The government, he said, was also ready to make a statement on the issue.
However, when the opposition did not relent and continued to create ruckus in the Well of the House, the Speaker decided to go ahead with the day’s business. He put the third supplementary budget and the demands for grants of Narmada valley development, sports and youth welfare, religious trusts and endowments, woman and child welfare, urban development and environment, Simhastha, agriculture, higher education and public services guarantee to vote and they were passed without any discussion.
