Bhopal: RPF constables hurt in stray attack, accused held

BHOPAL: Two woman constables of railway protection force (RPF) were injured after being allegedly attacked by one accused armed with sharp weapons on Friday late night near Bhopal railway station. The accused was arrested at the spot, the police said.

According to the government railway police (GRP), on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday the two RPF constables, both named Jyoti Yadav and aged 25, were in the RPF barracks. At around 1 am, one of them saw the accused Ramakant Patel, 20, of Sagar trying to enter the barrack with a sharp weapon. After seeing him, she and her friend intervened, on which he attacked them with the knife he was carrying.

One of the victims sustained injuries on her hand while the other on her forehead after which they entered into a scuffle. The other RPF personnel after hearing the sounds of scuffle rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused. They arrested him before he too was injured in the scuffle and was later admitted to a hospital. The two victims were also rushed to a nearby hospital where after receiving treatment they were discharged, the police added.

“The accused was a drug addict and lived near Nadra bus stand. The GRP booked him under relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act after receiving a complaint from the victims,” said station house officer, GRP Bhopal, Hemant Srivastava.
