BHOPAL: Not long ago, using mobile applications was something only youngsters were supposed to do. In families youngsters using android phones were considered a master of technology.
Any online shopping or ordering pizza online was a job only the young android user could do.
But the scenario is changing and people, despite considering using applications a hard row to hoe are willing to learn using online mode for
payments and transactions.
People are putting efforts to learn paying bills online, ordering groceries, online shopping, paying through cards, etc because of two major reasons. They are finding it interesting and second it is time and energy saving.
Anshuman Pandey, 40
“I never used online payments but now I had to. I had to pay my maid and I had no cash, so she asked me to transfer it to her account. I avoid using this mode because I have doubts about security. But it is actually very easy and quick. So, for transactions presently I am using e-banking and for paying bills to I prefer the official websites”, said Anshuman who thinks that this is useful with associated risks.
Suresh Gupta, 52
Suresh Gupta is a store manager at a shopping outlet and is learning to use e-banking. “I know nothing about e-banking and it has become almost mandatory to learn operating online for transactions that are possible online. It is a bit difficult for me but I am learning slow and steady. My son is also teaching me to making payments for bills. It is good that I will not have to stand in queue anymore for paying bills”.
Rajneesh Khare, 56
Rajneesh works with a private firm and has started using applications recently. He said, “I had applications downloaded in my mobile phone but I seldom used them. But now I am using these applications to make payments. It is actually easy, time saving and consumes less energy. Just few steps and you are done. My son who is in class 10th actually taught me to use these applications”.
Poonam Kashyap, 57
Poonam is a housewife but she is now turning a techie. “I just used WhatsApp and facebook earlier but now I am learning using paytm. My son and daughter daily take a class and teach me how to use paytm and applying cash backs and coupons on the app. It is a little difficult for me to learn because I have used phones just for calling. This is new for me but I am excited to learn something new”, she said.
Swati Maheshwari, 37
Swati runs her own boutique and she has applied for swipe machine so that she can accept payments through cards. “I have applied for swipe machine and have also learned how to operate it through a friend. I did online shopping but most of it was cash on delivery but this time I have placed order apparels for my boutique online and have also made payment online. It saved my time to go to bank and deposit the advance. I should have actually done this earlier”, she said.
Vandana Singh, 35
“My son is just 12 year old and he knows how to use applications. I never used phone much for payments or shopping but now my 12 year old son is teaching me. I run a tiffin service from home and many students asked me if I accept payment through Paytm wallet. I had no idea about it. Later my husband told me what it is. Though I am yet not accepting payment through Paytm but I am learning how to use it”, said Vandana.
