Bhopal: ‘ Rishi Shukla made CBI chief to scuttle Vyapam probe’

Bhopal: Minister for Cooperative Dr Govind Singh, while talking to media on Sunday, raised several questions against newly appointed CBI chief Rishi Shukla. He alleged, “Shukla is incompetent, coward and unsuccessful officer, and that his appointment is made to scuttle the ongoing inquiry in the Vyapam scam.” Shukla’s appointment has drawn wide criticism including Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge — who was part of a 3-member panel to choose the new CBI Director. Kharge had protested against the appointment of Shukla as CBI chief. He had expressed his dissent note that Shukla lacked experience in anti-corruption cases.

Singh further alleged that “When I was in opposition, during the discussion on the home department in the Vidhan Sabha- I had raised the issue that Shukla is good for nothing and during his tenure crimes against women had increased and many people were killed during the Dalit stir. The officer had failed to control law and order in the state”. Contd. on P10 He added that “I had stated in the assembly that the DGP could be a tiger of Gwalior and Chambal, but it turns out that he is a wolf under the guise of tiger.” He alleged that “How can a person handle national-level post when he could not even control law and order situation of a single state.”

He added, “Modi government had appointed him to suppress the Vyapam scam and also to ignore the scams done by the Modi government and also to create hurdle to the political parties who did not support the BJP.” “I protest and criticise the decision of Modi government for appointing the failed DGP as a CBI chief,” he said. The BJP spokesperson Rajnish Agarwal criticised the minister’s statement and stated that the minister should respect the officer who is holding one of the most reputed post of the nation. He added that “The minister may be having some political rivalry with the officer, but he was the officer of the state and now he is the officer of other post of national level. The minister should not make it a political issue.”
