BHOPAL: The government is busy rehabilitating retired bureaucrats from the back door.
Arun Tiwari, who retired as principal secretary in July, has been appointed as member of grievance redressal authority in Narmada Valley Development Authority (NVDA). Tiwari’s appointment was cleared post-factor by the cabinet. Satish Chandra Mishra, posted as principal secretary in the office of chief secretary has been posted as commissioner, departmental inquiry. Mishra is to retire this month. Shahdol commissioner, DP Ahirwar, who is to retire this month, is also in queue of aspirants waiting for rehabilitation. With BJP wining Shahdol Lok Sabha bypolls, it is considered certain that Ahirwar will be rehabilitated. Principal secretary, general administration, MK Varshneya, who will be retiring in December, is also looking for some post in government. Former chief secretary, Antony de Sa, who retired in October, is also aspiring for rehabilitation. Search is on for post where de Sa could be adjusted in the government and he may be rehabilitated either in administrative reforms commission or real estate regulatory authority.
Veena Ghanekar, who also retired in the recent past, met chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeking a post. Most of the IAS officers, who are retiring are being adjusted in the government by obliging them with some or the other post. Analysts maintain that rehabilitation of bureaucrats after retirement affect their impartiality. They also hold that such posts could be filled up by publishing advertisements so that right selection may take place.
