Bhopal: Police are mulling over impounding the licence of two-wheelers riders found to be violating traffic norms repeatedly. Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited (BSCDCL) has taken up project for Smart traffic management – Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) to provide information to the authorities to proactively manage the ongoing traffic situation.

BSCDCL’s Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) has detected over 5000 two-wheeler riders sans helmet since it started the exercise, eleven days back. Over 680 persons were caught flouting traffic rule on the very first day. Excluding holidays, on an average over 500 traffic violations are being spotted by ITMS.

Traffic police department is mulling over taking stringent action against repeated offenders and might even impound their license. Inspector general (IG) Bhopal Jaideep Prasad said that repeated offenders will have to pay the fine as many time they had violated the traffic rule. Repeating the offence might land them in trouble as we are thinking of impounding the driving license of the repeated offenders, he added.

The traffic violators are still unaware of them being challaned till now no person has been penalized on the spot rule. BSCDLC will issue e-challans against the offenders and the same will be sent at their registered address through post or e-mail. Once they get the challan, they will have 10-25 day time to pay the penalty.
