Bhopal: Minister of higher education Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya lashed out at professors who were unwilling to take transfers and shift from their current positions. The professors are unwilling to move from their positions even if they are transferred within the limits of a city, rued minister adding that the professors react as if they have been awarded a punishment of Kalapani, even if they are shifted to Mandideep.
Reshuffle is a departmental process but professors try to influence it at every level, said Pawaiya while addressing a seminar, jointly organized by library union and BJP’s library cell here on Sunday. Minister lamented that he has been receiving numerous recommendation for the transfers and their cancellation and that it was very annoying.
Lavishing praises on the guest lecturers, the minister said that they teach in more dedicated manner than the professors who are drawing salary more than a minister. The minister said that process of recruitment on vacant posts in the higher education department was underway, however, he added that merely recruitment would not be sufficient as there is need of teachers who are dedicated to their jobs.
Expressing displeasure over the black apron which students wear at the time of convocation, the minister said that the practice was a part of British Empire and needs a reformation.
