BHOPAL: The BJP’s humiliating defeat in two Lok Sabha and one Vidhan Sabha by-elections in Rajasthan has made state BJP unit panicky. The state BJP leaders are busy campaigning for by-polls in Kolaras and Mungaoli assembly constituencies.
On Thursday, the party had organised a workers’ convention at Mungaoli, which was attended by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state party chief Nandkumar Singh Chouhan, national vice-president Prabhat Jha, four ministers and a dozen MLAs. The shadow of Rajasthan poll outcome was visible during the meeting.
The Rajasthan poll results have made it clear that BJP is fast losing its sheen. The party has already lost two assembly by-polls in the state and it fears that given the direction in which the wind is blowing, it may lose in Kolaras and Mungaoli too. The Rajasthan win has boosted the morale of the Congress leaders. The huge turnout at the road shows staged by Congress party in the two constituencies on Wednesday has made BJP anxious.
A minister, officer exclusively for Mungaoli: CM
Addressing the workers’ convention at Mungaoli on Thursday, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that a minister would be deployed for speeding up developmental projects in the constituency if BJP candidate Baisaheb Yadav wins.
He said that an officer in CM secretariat will be given exclusive responsibility of Mungaoli. He will ensure that the workers of the constituency get due respect.
Chouhan said that MLA elected in the polls would have a term of only six months but added that he would make up for loss in four and half years in six months. “All records of development will be broken,” he remarked.
Attacking Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, he said that the latter has no interest in development. “He only wants that the people should keep on raising the slogan of Maharaj Ki Jai Ho. But once the area develops and people get educated, who will shout slogans hailing him,” Chouhan said.
