Rain is likely to dampen the spirit of Holi in some parts of the state, especially in Jabalpur and Mandla districts. According to weather department, rain and thundershowers are expected in southeast Madhya Pradesh on March 21 and 22. In capital, day temperature soared while night temperature remained same. There was rise of 2.5 degree Celsius in day temperature.
A confluence zone is expected to develop and extend from Chhattisgarh to north interior Karnataka across southeast Madhya Pradesh around March 21, which will be on Holi evening. Thus, in the wake of this change, rain and thundershowers are expected over southeast Madhya Pradesh on March 21 and 22. Thereafter, this confluence zone will fade away and the sky will be clear, the Met depart officials said.
However, no heavy rains are expected, but one or two moderate spells may occur. Hailstorm activities will be ruled as convection will not be as high to be capable of giving hailstorm. However, gusty winds will be accompanied with rain and thundershowers.
Meanwhile, Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 34.3 degree Celsius which was just below normal and a minimum temperature of 16 degree Celsius which was just normal. There was rise of 2.5 degree Celsius in day temperature. Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 34.4 degree Celsius which was 1.3 degree Celsius above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 18.8 degree Celsius which was just above normal.
