Bhopal: Members from different voluntary organisations and fraternities on Wednesday led a demonstration against the Congress party, which is opposing the release of bollywood flick ‘Indu Sarkar’ made by veteran Madhur Bhandarkar.
Under the banner of ‘Abhivyakti ki azadi’ the group staged protest near DB Mall, holding placards and carried out a silent rally against the party for opposing the movie.
Terming Congress’ behaviour as dictatorial, the agitating crowd said the party which imposed emergency on the nation was now trying to oppress voice against it.
The film depicts the period of 1975-77 but the Congress is opposing it as it may hurt its interests.
Senior journalist Suresh Sharma said Sanjay Gandhi was such a man who put ban on Kishore Kumar’s songs when the singing legend refused to sing in a rally.
Meesabandi Suresh Diwedi said the movie presented pictures of the era when the then ruling government had restricted freedom of speech and expression and, “We want the present generation to know about it. Emergency is a black chapter in our history and hence it should not be concealed and should be known to the present and the generations to come,” said Diwedi.
The Congress was so scared of it that it was even opposing the director to hold a press conference to interact with the media, said another member.
