BHOPAL: SAMMAN, Bhopal along with Jagruti Kamkaji Mahila Saakh Sahakar Sanstha organised a special programme to commemorate International Women’s Day on March 8, with the theme ‘Be Bold for Change’. The programme was organised on the KPRP (Seminary) Campus, Arera Colony here on Sunday.
Fr Simon James SVD, director of SAMMAN, said, “Woman is the life giver to the whole human race and it is the responsibility of everyone to give her a respectable status and honour in society.”
Archbishop Leo Cornelio appreciated the role and contribution of women towards society.
Sheeba Joseph, head of the department of social work, BSSS College, stressed the need to be conscious of one’s right and asserting them, adding women should raise their voice against gender discrimination and every girl child should be educated.
Socialist Indira Iyengar, while appreciating SAMMAN and its contribution for the slum people in Bhopal emphasised that every girl child should be given importance in the family and school.
