Bhopal: Finance department has given a nod for extending the benefits of seventh pay scale to the agitating professors of government colleges. Finance minister Jayant Malaiya told Free Press that finance department has approved of the seventh pay scale for the higher education department.
“Staff of Higher Education Department would get seventh pay scale from 1.1.2016. We were working on the modalities and have decided that the arrears would be given in cash for the period ensuing from 1.4.2018, while the arrear of earlier period (till 21.3.2018) would be deposited in the general provident fund account of the beneficiaries,” said Malaiya.
Professors of government colleges and universities have been protesting for last several months and demanding the benefits of seventh pay scale as the state government had approved it for its employees of other departments.
Asserting for the seventh pay scale President of the professors association Kailash Tyagi had said that the central government provides 50% of funds for their salaries and state government has to bear only half the burden therefore state government should not delay it.
