BHOPAL: Pujari’s grand son and his friend have been arrested in connection with burgling of a “Mukut” which was stolen from Baghlamukhi Mandir under Kamla Nagar police on October 28.
According to the police, acting on a tip off, a youth was nabbed from Nehru Nagar area and when he was questioned regarding the burglary he confessed that he along with his accomplice of Hoshangabad stole the Mukut.
The nabbed accused was identified as Randhir Singh based on the information, when the youth was nabbed from Hoshangabad he was identified as Ayush Deewan who happens to be the grandson of the complainant priest.
The two sold the Mukut at Rs 1 lakh to a Hoshangabad based jeweller Shaqir Ali who confessed selling it to Qasim Ali and based on the information when Qasim Ali was nabbed he told that he melted the Mukut. The melted gold was recovered from possession.
The main accused Ayush told the police that he was burdened with debt and to repay the money he committed the burglary. The other accused Randhir works as a labour and had been booked for 3-4 crimes in the past. Notably, on October 28 gold crown worth Rs 3.37 lakh was burgled from Pitambar
A complaint was lodged with the police by Ravindra Giri, the priest of the temple and it was later found that his grandson is involved in the burglary.
