BHOPAL: The court on Monday acquitted Fr George Jacob alias Kutty of St Joseph Girls School, Idgah Hills, in rape case due to lack of evidence. The prosecution failed to prove whether the crime was committed by Jacob or Kutty, as they could not establish if the two were same person.
Fr George Jacob alias Kutty was arrested on August 11, 2018 and sent to jail after a Mumbai-based middle-aged woman had accused him of raping her.
The priest had called the woman to his presbytery situated on the premises of St Joseph Girls School.

In the complaint to Shahjahanabad police station, the woman said she was looking for a job and on her friend’s suggestion she had contacted St Joseph Girls School.
On August 8, 2018, she came to meet the principal at the school. The principal, introduced himself as George Kutty and led her to his residence. He offered her a job on monthly salary of Rs15000 provided she converts her religion.
The woman refused and after polite conversation while she was shooting a video of fish aquarium there, the principal allegedly sexually assaulted her.
During the trial, it came to fore that the complainant woman had also faked her identity as an unmarried Hindu woman, but documents proved that she was married and a Muslim.
