BHOPAL: The government has not responded on the demands made by the contractual employees of the five power companies. From Monday, around 25,000 employees of these companies will go on strike.

Contractual Employees’ Association president Ramesh Rathore informed that the Bharatiya Janata Party had promised in their election manifesto of 2013, that if they came in power, the contractual employees would be regularised on their posts. In five companies around 25,000 employees are working on contract or on outsourcing basis. They are paid less and have to work more hours.

The association submitted the memorandum of their demands to the government on April 5, but ten days later none of the officials came to discuss the matter. From Monday all the employees will go on indefinite strike. In Bhopal they will sit on strike at Ambedkar park. He added due to the strike, blackout situation may occur in the state.
