Bhopal: A riot like situation emerged in Mazdoor Nagar near military gate under Shahjahanabad police station limits on Tuesday. A fight among children escalated to elders and they got involved in stone pelting without thinking about the matter. The timely intervention of police averted the situation from going out of hand, else it could have taken a communal turn as the stone pelters got involved in the ruckus without giving a thought to the larger picture of public safety.
Teams of police from Shahjahanabad, Teelajamalpura, Kohefiza, police control room and other police stations took timely action to control the situation. Remarks passed by a child on a man, triggered the situation. The man then allegedly called his friends and started pelting stones at the child’s kin.
According to police, the incident occurred near Mazdoor Nagar when few boys who were playing in the area were mocking Nafees aka Mota for his brother’s alleged involvement in prostitution. The victim Satish Makwana is a brother of BJP leader and corporator Mahesh Makwana.
BJP corporator Mahesh Makwana said the child had passed the remark on one of the accused after which he also called his friends and they hurled stones at them. The other side also retaliated. The group’s action left the locals split into two groups, who began stone pelting at each other.
As many as three persons were injured in the stone pelting while FIR was registered at both the groups. Congress MLA Arif Masood said it was only the timely intervention of police that averted the situation. He said that the issue escalated to elders from children otherwise it was only a trivial issue. Local corporator Mewalal said that the matter started with children and involvement of elders was the reason the issue escalated to such an extent.
