Bhopal: The city police on Monday claimed to arrest six men accused of murdering a 22-year-old youth on Saturday evening at TT Nagar. The accused had confessed to killing Rafique Khan as per a pre-planned action citing a 3-year-old dispute, the police said at a press conference on the same at police control room here.
According to them, arrested accused Rohit Prajapati, 20, Chotu Batham, 20, Vijay Yadav alias Virus, 20, Lakhanlal Tadav, 22, Virendra Thakur, 22 and Deepak Sonale, 20, were all residents of Roshanpura slums, where Rafique Khan also lived. The accused fell into police trap after main accused Vijay Yadav was arrested within 24 hours of the incident. Vijay was the one who had a dispute with Khan about three years ago in Jehangirabad.
After the arrest, Vijay told the police about the remaining five accused hiding at a dhaba in Narsinghgarh area in Rajgarh district. The police went to the spot and arrested them before they could escape, the police added.
“During interrogation, Vijay said he and Rafique had reached a compromise on the dispute before the court. But after the compromise, Rafique and his associates started harassing him and often beat him up on several occasions whenever he was found alone. Khan also used to pressure him to pay him the expenses borne by him in the court proceedings and also threatened him of dire consequences against going for police help,” said DIG, RS Sikarwar while speaking to media persons. Sikarwar said according to Vijay, he was fed up with the constant harassment and bullying after which he decided to kill him.
“Vijay had planned to kill Khan with the other five accused who were his friends. On Saturday evening as per the plan, when Khan was going with a friend Ashfaq on a motorbike, the accused stopped him and stabbed him with daggers and knives, inflicting serious stab wounds on him. He died on the spot after which the police sent his body for autopsy, registering a case against them,” added Sikarwar.
